About Me:
After three years backpacking through Latin America from Cuba to Patagonia, I found spiritual communion with the Chilean Nobel Laureate and pacifist activist Pablo Neruda. A book of translations, a documentary and biography-in-progress have been the result, as has so much love and growth and warmth, atremendous journey where i learned the importance of balancing passion with patience, and the rewards of always following your heart
Iin April, 2004, National Poetry Month right before Neruda's centennial, my heroes at holy City Lights published my baby, The Essential Neruda: Selected Poems, which is now the bestselling book of Nerudas translations in the States.
“What better way to celebrate the hundred years of Neruda's glorious residence on our earth than this selection of crucial works - in both languages! - by one of the greatest poets of all time. A splendid way to begin a love affair with our Pablo or, having already succumbed to his infinite charms, revisit him passionately again and again and yet again.” – Ariel Dorfman, Pulitzer-prize winner
It includes some of my own translations along with those of an all-star group of poets, including former US Poet Laureate and recent Pulitzer Prize winner Robert Hass, SF Poet Laureate Jack Hirschman, and Stephen Mitchell. Lawrence Ferlinghetti wrote an introductory note.

Please consider buying it for yourself and all your friends through Red Poppy, where we believe in the power of written and cinematic literature to awaken consciousness. Through documentary film production, literary publications and direct outreach campaigns, we promote cultural, social and environmental activism throughout the Americas. We have official 501(c)3 status with the IRS.
Our current priority is finishing a dynamic, lyrical documentary on Neruda, and we need your help to finish it.
Our new director Carlos Bolado has a small window before he begins production on a major feature staring Alec Baldwin, and we are very close to fully funding six weeks of filming in Chile.
Carlos is a major member of the nuevo cine mexicano movement. He produced, directed, wrote, and edited Bajo California, which won 7 Ariels, Mexico’s highest cinematic award, including Best Picture of 1999. He co-directed and edited Promises, nominated for the Academy Award for best feature documentary of 2002. His Solo Dios Sabe was selected for the 2006 Sundance Film Festival's Grand Jury Prize for World Drama. Carlos edited Como Agua Para Chocolate, and was an advising editor for Amores Perros.
Please help us finish this important film which will bring the inspiration of poetry and literary activism to the world! Visit our garden and get your hands dirty cultivating its rich poetic soil at www.redpoppy.net
